Frequently Asked Questions


A:  For an emergency please call 911.  This is answered by our dispatch center who will dispatch the appropriate response.  For all other non-emergencies, please call 815-728-0088.
A:  No.  We currently staff one of two stations every day from 6 AM until 6 PM.  After that we have a Shift Commander that responds immediatly from home to the incident and a crew of 4 that will respond from home to the stations to pick up the appropriate response vehicle.
A:  An advanced life support fire engine may also respond in order to provide more manpower to assist the ambulance crew.  This also allows for a quicker response, should another call come out.
A:  The Wonder Lake Fire Protection District transports to Centegra Hospital McHenry and Centegra Hospital Woodstock.  In the event of a serious trauma, we have the capability of transporting via helicopter to a Level 1 Trauma Center.  Also, for cardiac related incidents, we are required by hospital protocol to transport to McHenry.  This is due to having a Cath Lab available.
A:  Pull to the right when safe and come to a stop to allow the vehicle(s) to pass.
