Motor Vehicle Accident at Barnard Mill Rd. and South Ridgeway. First units on scene reported

a 3 vehicle accident, complete lane blockage and patient entrapment. Due to the possiblity of multple patients, a mutual aid ambulance

was immediatly called to assist in transportation of a patients. 

Wonder Lake's Squad 1631 was used for extrication.  Initial extrication strarted to gain access to the patient and provide first aid.

The damage to the vehicle had pinned the patients legs underneath the dashboard.  An intervenous line was started in the vehicle for pain medication. Medical treatment is initiated as soon as possible, even while the extrication efforts are being preformed.  The dashboard had to be lifted to free the patient's legs.

Fire is always a possibility in accidents, so suppression agents are always at hand.  Other patients involved were evaluated, treated and transported.

Patients are immobilized on backboards to prevent any injury to neck or back.

To gain better access to the patient, the roof is often removed.  This allows a greater amount of room to manipulate the patient and prevent further injury.
